The California Department of Real Estate provided live update (12/30/2020) on the closure of its exam centers and offices around the state.

All licensing exams scheduled through January 16, 2021 have been cancelled. There’s no date set at this time when exam centers will reopen. DRE will update its website and social media channels with reopening plans.

If you had a DRE exam scheduled between December 7, 2020 and January 16, 2021, it has been canceled. All examinees are notified about a cancellation via phone and/or email.

When we have a better sense of when exam centers will be allowed to reopen, staff will contact examinees to reschedule their exams. Those with cancelled exams will be scheduled first, and rescheduling fees for them will be waived.

Live Scan service providers may be impacted by shelter in place orders. Please check the Department of Justice website to find a location open near you at https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/locations or call the individual service providers for their status.

You will likely experience delays with exam and licensing processes as a completed Live Scan is required to obtain a license. It is strongly recommended that you use our eLicensing system for those transactions that can be completed online.
